  • One Decade

Yesterday marked 50 years of me being in this world. The weeks leading up to turning 50 were far more concerning than the actual day of turning 50! After celebrating for most of the week in one of my favorite places, my birthday was just like any other birthday & I wasn't as stressed as I thought I would be. Turning 40 wasn't bad, turning 45 brought thoughts about where I really wanted to be in life...but 50 will really get ya thinking about all sorts of things. Mostly, I am thankful for the life I have had.  I have a wonderful husband, family, great friends, have done many fun things & seen many beautiful places.

We spent the week in Eureka Springs, Arkansas with a couple friends & stayed in the historic haunted Basin Park Hotel. We never saw any paranormal sightings, but we did have some odd experiences like the water in the bathroom sink turning on by itself around 3am, something poking Geary's leg (waking him up one morning), the fire alarm went off for no known reason (same night as the sink water), hearing a young girl shriek a giddy laugh & the best was the elevator opening/closing & taking me to the 4th floor on it's on, pushing no buttons!  Being the end of their tourist season, the Hotel was sparsely occupied & we were the only ones on the 4th floor for a couple days until a newly wed couple came...but we never saw them! Our friend Robert & the bartender kept us entertained & she turned us on to the best restaurants & more valuable...the ones not to go to. We all had a fabulous time & left for home at just the right time with their 1st snow flurries happening there. There's just something special about witnessing a 1st snow in a place you don't live.

Geary got a cool T-shirt with 3 guys in odd, laid out positions with empty alcohol bottles also laying around...                                it reads...Irish Yoga!

    Later...dyan~

  • Evolving

This is my 1st post & I don't really know how all this works, so I'm just going to write what comes to  mind...

I have never had a diary, not even when a kid. Instead , I have always had sketch books. They are filled with doodles, drawings, poems & words, including many pages shared with friends. Occasionally, I dig one out & gaze in wonderment, trying to figure out where I was...physically, mentally, emotionally, etc...There are some really cool & strange things in those books! I haven't done this in years & I want to start this again, so I'll pass around a blank book during the next gathering of friends. I'm a sentimental person, so having something others have drawn or written by their own hand is an alluring treasure to capture.

Artistic expression has always surrounded & embraced me. I am hoping this site will be a way to share those expressions. Among many arts, one thing I enjoy is unusual photography. I like variety in just about all things, architecture, old towns, nature, animals, vintage & antique cars, trains, planes & equipment & I have a thing for Woodsmen of the World grave site head stones. The 1st pic I offer is a negative image of a stairwell in the Crescent Hotel of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, built in 1869. I will add more negative images in a folder.

    Dyan~
